When we think of our dream home, many of us have a house situated on the coast somewhere with spectacular views. Today we get a look at a home that celebrates the native bush of New Zealand, though still located on the coast. The Matapouri House was designed by architect Belinda George. Designed as a holiday home, the structure sits on a small clearing on a clifftop overlooking the sea.
The dwelling features a curved form that seems to hug the hillside, dividing the living and bedroom wings in the process. The home also creates a connection to both the bush behind and the bush below, all while offering stunning views of the sea. The exterior is clad in timber, which continues inside, creating a sleek and unique aesthetic throughout. This detail ties everything together, creating a casual, laid-back approach in the process. The camp-like atmosphere encourages inhabitants to take in the natural world, enjoying a dose of luxury in the process.
