The ATL’s very own, CeeLo Green is back! It’s been five years since he released a new project, but this past Friday, that all changed. The wordsmith, singer/songwriter, and more returned with CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway. The new project is his fifth solo album, his first since 2015’s Heart Blanche. CeeLo opened up about the project and its inspiration recently.
He stated: “Thomas Callaway is a Man. A milestone achievement, yet nothing short of a Miracle. Mixed emotions and many faces, one heart, and one love. Made a son of the south, and adopted by the world. Making music that celebrates a universal truth, and that brings us all together as a family.” The album was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and was described by Green as “like if Al Green did a country album.”
The album was recorded in Nashville at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio. The album is loaded up with twelve new tracks, including “Lead Me” and “Doing It All Together.” CeeLo puts together another fine example of his talents, cooking up some unique and refreshing new material along the way. Whatever you do today, don’t sleep on this one.
