A Look At MURAL Festival 2022

Montreal is the place to be for muralists and visual artists of all sorts. The city’s Saint-Laurent Boulevard has been transformed as part of MURAL Festival 2022. Since 2013, organizers have invited hundreds of local and international artists to showcase their talents in the city. This year, MURAL Festival includes 21 visual artists who have created stunning public art works. Found along Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the festival consists of works from Shepard Fairey, Caratoes, Burnt Toast, Vexx, Mando Marie, Hatecopy, and many others.

The visual art portion is accented by an area dedicated to augmented reality. Two exhibitions across the city in Parc du Portugal and Parc des Amériques bring a new element to the festival and provide guests with work from local artists Cryote, Waxhead, and Samuel Arsenault-Brassard. MURAL Festival released a statement that reads: “This exhibition format allows for an entirely immersive, contemplative experience, like taking a journey into the future of urban art.”

The festival also features 25 musical performers, including Lil Yachty, Skepta, Ayra Starr, Nardo Wick, A-Trak, and many more. Rounding out the festival is a market that features artisans and merchants from all disciplines. The statement goes on to add, “It’s an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet the public and share their products and creations with visitors. Spread over on more than a kilometer, this street market is a real meeting place for ideas and creativity.”
