We find modern architecture inspiring and impressive. Today, we look at a beautiful dwelling on the north shore of Bowen Island in British Columbia. The Bowen Island House is a modern retreat that overlooks the water and puts all the focus on nature. The house is situated perpendicular to the coast while embedded into the hillside for minimal disruption.
The retreat uses cast concrete walls that flawlessly blend with the rugged terrain. The exterior is detailed with blackened local cedar siding, while a green roof seamlessly integrates into the native flora. The structure’s floor-to-ceiling glazing provides unrivaled views from the living spaces. A minimalistic approach is seen throughout, providing a clean and crisp atmosphere.
The home puts all of the attention on the natural surroundings, effortlessly bringing nature inside while offering dramatic views. A covered terrace cantilevers toward the water, extending those breath-taking views.
