A Modern Hobbit Home | The Sunken Studio

We’ve seen unique modern architecture of all sorts. We’ve seen some intriguing concepts as well. Today, we look at something functional, modern, and unique that ties into an old way of living. The Sunken Studio is the brainchild of Igor Leal. The concept was devised as a permanent home office, offering a modern and minimal form in the process. The Sunken Studio is a sleek subterranean workspace that boasts 500 square feet of space.

The concept was designed for a client in Rio De Janeiro and includes some unique features throughout. The space consists of a sitting area, kitchenette, bathroom, and desk area. A glass facade looks out into a small courtyard where a bench provides an excellent retreat for a midday break. The office is submerged into the ground and covered with a grass roof, concealing the volume from view. Certainly a unique space to work throughout the day, but outstanding nonetheless.

Take a closer look at the Sunken Studio in the images below and find out more about the concept from Igor Leal. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture coming very soon.
