It’s been twenty years since KAWS debuted his iconic COMPANION figure. Today the Brooklyn-based artist returns to celebrate the 20th anniversary with the new COMPANION 2020 design. The latest addition to the COMPANION family of creations finds the figure lying down. However, unlike the HOLIDAY JAPAN figure’s relaxed position, this design seems to be quite exhausted.
The figure is seen lying face down, arriving in brown/tan/green, gray, and black/yellow color schemes. The figure’s face is flattened, as are its chest and legs while letting it be displayed on any even surface.
KAWS took to Instagram to announce the design. His caption reads: “in true 2020 form, part of the [COMPANION 2020] shipment is stuck out at sea.” Word is that COMPANION 2020‘s debut will be accompanied by a restock of his HOLIDAY SPACE and BFF figures as well.
