A Winter Retreat | The Sirdal Twin Cabins

As if you couldn’t tell, we are drawn to unique designs, especially in modern architecture. Today we take a look at a beautiful structure located on a hilltop in Norway. Dubbed the Sirdal Twin Cabins, this contemporary dwelling offers winter refuge for the nearby slopes. The two structures are made from asymmetrical forms. Both boast steeply sloped rooflines that block the harsh winter winds on one side.

This creates a sheltered south-facing terrace on the other. The exterior’s darkly stained timber facade fits flawlessly with the natural surroundings. The interior offers a contrasting modern vibe. We see warm pine paneling lining the space, while solid pine flooring completes the look. The design is simple and minimalistic, yet clean and modern. This simplified palette continues through the open living space. The cabins are also host to strategically placed windows that frame some exceptional views. The stunning design is a flawless retreat from the harsh environment. The attention to detail is clean and outstanding, while offering great views in the process.

Take a closer look at the Sirdal Twin Cabins in the images below and find out more about them from Hoem+Folstad. While you’re at it, be sure to check back in with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture and design coming soon.
