An Inside Look | Virgil Abloh Opens New “Figures of Speech” Exhibition

After teasing the latest “Figures of Speech” exhibition, Virgil Abloh is back. The artist, creative director, and so much more recently opened his famed installation at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. The opening of the exhibition took place earlier this week, but now the museum is offering an in-depth look inside. The installation is a 20-year survey that explores the pivotal moments of Abloh’s career.

This includes a look into the world of fashion, furniture, music, design, and graphics. This new iteration of “Figures of Speech” expands the previous, incorporating new works and additional community works. Works by Brendan Fowler, Caramel Bobby, and Tremaine Emory are included, offering a unique and inventive use of art.

The range includes Abloh’s continued exemplification of dialogue. This is seen in his use of language and quotation marks turning objects and apparel into what he deems “figures of speech.” Take a closer look inside the exhibition in the gallery below and head over to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta for more information immediately.

The exhibition will be on display until March 8, 2020. Much like the MCA Chicago rendition, various specially-designed merch is offered at the museum’s store. Don’t miss out on this! Be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art coming soon.
