Art For Sale! Ai Weiwei Unveils His First Merch Collection

The Chinese artist, activist, architect, and more Ai Weiwei is back in the news feed. The multi-faceted creative returns with something new, celebrating Lunar New Year with a new collection of merch. The artist has teamed up with lifestyle brand Rome Pays Off for a limited run of items.

Each piece in the collection features Ai’s signature “Ox,” which commemorates the year of the ox. The artist has used the Chinese Zodiac in his work. In 2015, his installation “Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads” sold for $5.4 million and commented on the way the government had manipulated history. Ai’s new merch line isn’t going to be his last. He will be releasing a line of scarves in conjunction with the art book publisher Taschen.

Take a look at the merch collection in the image up top and pick up your favorite pieces on the Ntwrk shopping app. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the art department coming soon.
