Art In #OurOcala! Aesthetic Melancholy: A Pop Up Art Show

Art is exploding in #OurOcala. It seems like there is a new showcase or exhibition weekly, and we couldn’t be happier! This week from April 22nd through April 24th, the NOMA Gallery will be hosting a pop-up art show featuring the work of Aaron Thomas. Aaron is an Ocala native and a combat veteran who uses his art to cope with stress while expressing his emotions.

The exhibition is fittingly titled ‘Aesthetic Melancholy: A Pop Up Art Show.’ It’s been a busy year for Aaron Thomas, who decided to start painting thanks to the support of his friends and family again. He has shown at Brick City Center for the Arts, MAX, and NOMA Gallery and at the Art castle pop-up in 2020. Aaron has also taught classes such as “Painting Your Emotions” and has aspirations to teach veterans art classes to share his success through art therapy.

The three-day show kicks off on April 23rd from 6 – 8 PM at NOMA Gallery. The soiree will feature a performance from local singer/songwriters Caly & Megan and, delicious libations, and a community art piece. Expect a celebration of art in the Art’s District.

To find out more about the event and the exhibition, head over to the NOMA Gallery’s website. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more happenings in #OurOcala.
