Art In #OurOcala | MCA Presents The Backpack Fever Online Auction

Art is becoming a much bigger part of #OurOcala. Its impact can be seen on a massive scale all over downtown Ocala. Recently the Marion Cultural Alliance and Interfaith’s Food 4 Kids program partnered up for a unique initiative to give back. They have come together for the Backpack Fever online auction to celebrate local artist Bob Kuperberg’s 90th birthday. Local artists were tasked with designing a blank canvas backpack in honor of Bob Kuperberg’s birthday.

The bags were then donated and are now being auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting Marion Cultural Alliance and Interfaith’s Food 4 Kids program. The one-of-a-kind backpacks are being displayed and auctioned online. The collection features works from local artists such as Bob Kuperberg, Margaret Watts, David D’Alessandris, Drake Arnold, and Justin Alsedek. Mel Fiorentino, Kay Deuben, Jordan Shapot, David Kellner, and others also contributed their hard work and created some incredible backpacks.

Backpack Fever

This is bigger than art! It’s a great way to get a great piece of functional local art while giving back to a great cause. The auction is slated to close tomorrow at 6 pm, so make sure you get your bid in ASAP.
