Art In The City! Austin Lee’s “Like It Is” Exhibition At Jeffrey Deitch

The artist Austin Lee has explored the dichotomy between the real world and virtual reality. His art features airbrush paintings created through a combination of traditional techniques along with the latest digital tools. The artist has opened a new solo exhibition at Jeffrey Deitch in New York entitled “Like It Is.” The collection features recognizable cultural motifs and art historical imagery. Each piece is bold in color, from archival photos and tarot cards to Vermeer paintings, while partly inspired by the famous Rorschach test.

The artist released a statement for the exhibition. He stated: “In my lifetime, I’ve seen computer software and hardware innovations change the way humans interact at a pace that is hard to keep up with.” Lee added, “With each new tech expansion comes both positive and negative side effects. Isolation mixed with mediated interaction, subversive advertising, facing overwhelming tragedy alone and through a screen – these are just some of the confusing, disorienting experiences that are hard to adapt to and highlight our need for authentic connection.”

Check out the exhibition in the images and find out more about the display from Jeffrey Deitch. Stop by and check it out if you’re in the area. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art exhibitions coming very soon.
