After pairing up with Teddy Sykes for ‘Neon Dreams’ back in December, Mr. Nieves has been hard at work prepping his next exhibition. This weekend, February 15th, to be exact, E.J. Nieves will present his third solo showcase entitled ‘It’s Not You It’s Me.’ This particular show takes a deeper look into the artist’s personal struggles within himself.
The exhibition is an intriguing look inside the mind of the artist. E.J. opened up about the premise of the show and the inspiration behind it. He indicated that for years in his adulthood, he has been in a toxic relationship with himself. This relationship has destroyed so much of what he loved and desired. ‘It’s Not You It’s Me’ will be filled with transparency and raw emotion, as well as moments of personal victory and defeat.
The exhibition itself will stand alone as a fully immersive interactive installation featuring moments of personal triumph and defeat. The event will take place at the Magnolia Art Exchange this Saturday, February 15th from 7-9 PM. E.J. will transform the space into a captivating visual space. “Let the light lead you” will be one of the significant commentaries for the interactive exhibition, providing guests with a unique experience throughout.
The work on display is a bit different than what we are used to from Mr. Nieves, focusing primarily on abstract expressionism. E.J. wants the exhibition to be very personal, an experience that would have audiences captivated and examining their own emotions in the process. Guests will be treated to wine and light refreshments while the incredibly talented Stephen Perry will provide musical entertainment.
Mark your calendars, make a reminder, and take a deep, emotional dive into the mind of E.J. Nieves. ‘It’s Not You It’s Me’ takes place this Saturday, February 15th from 7-9 PM; don’t miss out!
