The creative minds over at Dr. Martens are back at it again. They have two new renditions of the 1460 boot and two pairs of 1461 shoes this time around. The iconic footwear imprint has paired with the Keith Haring Foundation for a special new capsule collection. The range is set to debut for the Spring/Summer 2021 season. It also marks the first time the two have collaborated.
All of the footwear includes Haring’s iconic illustrations and more. The original 1460 boot is crafted from smooth leather and boasts black graphic detailing of Haring’s sketches and figures. The boots also feature a strip of his colorful figures on the heel.
The 1461 shoes are also crafted from smooth leather, while one features an homage to his angelicbaby imagery. The second features an all-over print spotlighting more of Haring’s illustrations. Dr. Martens released a statement regarding the capsule. It reads: “As part of a series of collaborations with radical artists, DM’s are shining a spotlight on Haring’s legendary artwork. The New York-based artist’s colorful, cartoonish graphics were deep-rooted in social activism.” It goes on to state: “His publicly-minded pieces questioned authority whilst being accessible and upbeat. There was always more than met the eye.”
Check out the new Keith Haring x Dr. Martens collaboration in the images and look for the collection on January 22 on Dr. Martens’ website. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding footwear coming soon.
