Beck – Paisley Park Sessions EP

The one and only, Beck is back. The artist continues to evolve and adapt with the times, steadily creating new music in the process. Today the prolific one is back, unleashing an impressive new EP for our listening pleasures. This isn’t just any EP though, this is Paisley Park Sessions. The project was recorded at Prince’s legendary Paisley Park Studios and finds the artist putting his own take on the Prince records. The EP is something unique and refreshing, something different and certainly unexpected.

Beck recently spoke about the project in a statement posted on Instagram. He describes the project as: “a nearly impromptu jam recorded on hallowed ground.” Beck also chose to document and film the creation of Paisley Park Sessions for a brief documentary.

He spoke about having an open approach to collaborating these days. He stated: “A lot of my albums, there aren’t many guests,” adding “I have memories about albums I’ve made that are just really lonely.” The artist went on to say, “I’m in there 12 hours a day just trudging through this production, so it’s a great joy to bring people I know into my music. I’m hoping to be able to do this more often.” Beck’s new Paisley Park Sessions EP includes tracks like “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss,” “1999,” “Raspberry Beret,” “Where It’s At,” and “Up All Night.”

He does his thing and puts his own spin on some rather iconic records in the process. Check out the documentary and the EP in the streams below. While you’re at it, be sure to check out the latest installment of our weekly playlist, ‘A Curation of Sound.’
