Belly – ‘See You Next Wednesday’

The one and only, Belly is back. He returns today after a bit of a hiatus, doing so with a brand new album for our listening enjoyment. ‘See You Next Wednesday’ is the artist’s first project since his Immigrant album in 2018. After battling a depressive state following a loss of creativity and drive, the artist has a new look on life. Belly is back with his third album, an impressive opus that finds him providing another solid showcase of his talents behind the mic.

Belly spoke to NME about the project and stated: “This album was me really trying to find my footing again and trying to be comfortable making music,” adding, “I was drifting away from music and had been for a long time. I needed to unlearn a few things and try making music again.” He continued on to say, “At a point, I just had no emotional currency left. I had to get myself together to be able to even get stuff out.”

The project was inspired by an unmade film by director John Landis, coming in with fifteen tracks in total. Along the way, he links up with the likes of Nas, Benny The Butcher, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Big Sean, Moneybagg Yo, Gunna, PnB Rock, and NAV. A few notable standouts that we can’t get enough of include “IYKYK,” “Zero Love,” “Better Believe,” “Two Tone,” “Wu-Tang,” and “Scary Sight.”

Whatever you have planned today, let Belly be the soundtrack. Check out the new project in the stream below and look for more from Belly coming soon. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for all the best in new music.
