With 2021 on the horizon, the good folks over at Billboard are back to take a look at the decade that was. Music has evolved since 2010, and today we take a unique look back at some of the best R&B/hip-hop artists of the times. Billboard is back with a look at their picks for the best R&B/hip-hop artists of the decade.
At the top of the list is Toronto’s very own, Drake, who has had quite a decade. The artist has had 40 top 10 hits, seven of which reached No. 1. He is also the record holder for the most entries ever on the Billboard Hot 100 with 208.
Coming in at the number two position is Rihanna. The songstress has released nine No. 1 Hot 100 hits this decade, as well as a bevy of stand out guest features and impressive albums. With tracks such as “Rude Boy,” “What’s My Name,” “We Found Love,” and “Diamonds,” Rihanna made a significant mark on the decade.
Chris Brown is situated at number three on the list thanks to hits such as “Look at Me Now” with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, “No Guidance” featuring Drake, and “Loyal” with Lil Wayne and French Montana.
Nicki Minaj sits at fourth, doing so with 17 top 10 hits on the Hot 100 and the most Hot 100 hits among women. Rounding out the top five is Post Malone, who has released two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and four No. 1 hits on the Hot 100. His single “Sunflower” tied the record for most weeks spent in the Hot 100’s top 10.
