Buck Mountain Cabin

We’ve seen plenty of outstanding examples of modern architecture. Today we get a look at a striking cabin located on a cliff on Orcas Island. The Buck Mountain Cabin embraces its rugged site, creating a beautiful, immersive retreat that sits flawlessly with the natural surroundings. The exterior is clad in blackened timber, contrasting the basalt hillside in the process.

The structure is partially embedded into the terrain. The rear of the home cantilevers 22 feet above the ground. Bedrooms are located on the forest floor, while the living spaces float above the treetops, providing unrivaled views of the area. The upper level extends out to a suspended deck, bringing the interior outside and providing expansive views over the water and the San Juan Islands.

Take a look at this beautiful modern dwelling in the images below and head over to Heliotrope to find out more about the cabin immediately. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding architecture coming very soon.
