Celebrate With Flavor! Krispy Kreme Unveils “The Mars Doughnut”

The good folks over at Krispy Kreme are back with some news that is out of this world. Today the doughnut chain is back with a new doughnut that will be available for one day only. The brand new offering is dubbed “The Mars Doughnut,” which arrives in celebration of NASA‘s Perseverance Rover making its epic landing on Mars this February 18. The sweet treat is designed to look like the Red Planet; however, it is filled with Chocolate Kreme.

The doughnut has been dipped in caramel icing and sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumbs. Krispy Kreme Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena spoke about the new doughnut and its inspiration. He stated: “The landing of Perseverance on Mars will be an epic and important achievement.” He went on to add, “So, we’re celebrating the best way we know how: with an amazing new doughnut discovery right here on earth.”

The Perseverance Rover will deliver the first helicopter ever sent to mars, as well as 11 million names as part of the agency’s “Send Your Name to Mars” program. Krispy Kreme will commemorate the program with one free Mars Doughnut each upon presentation of their NASA-issued Perseverance “boarding pass.”
