Celebrating An Icon | Casio G-SHOCK Celebrates Bruce Lee’s Birthday

The good folks over at Casio’s G-SHOCK are celebrating an icon. To celebrate the 80th birthday of the legendary Bruce Lee, the luxury arm of G-SHOCK has created something special. Mr-G reveals the MRG-G2000BL-9A. The BL in the model number stands for the martial artist and action film star. The timepiece features a black and yellow color scheme along the case and band. This is a nod to the iconic tracksuit worn by Lee in the posthumously released film, Game of Death.

The colors of yellow and red are seen as well, which are seen in the emblem of Jeet Kune Do, the martial arts philosophy founded by Lee. The MR-G features a Dura Soft Fluoro-Rubber band. This makes for a durable yet soft approach, while sapphire glass crystal provides outstanding scratch resistance.

The timepiece also features a diamond-like carbon coating, a titanium case, and bezel, a time adjustment system capable of obtaining data via Bluetooth. To finish things off, the timepiece includes an engraved bezel that reads “Using no way as a way, having no limitation as limitation,” and a dial that’s decorated with Bruce Lee’s signature. There is also the Chinese character “龍,” or dragon, Lee’s nickname.

Take a closer look at this special-edition timepiece in the images below and look for it to arrive in April at select jewelers and the G-SHOCK SoHo store. Keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the style and fashion department coming soon.
