Celebrating In Style | Nike’s “Day of the Dead” Pack

The good folks over at Nike are back, and they return just in time for Halloween. The iconic sportswear imprint is back with a look at a new pack of sneakers inspired and influenced by Mexico’s “Day of the Dead.” The holiday is packed full of unique lore and striking iconography. Nike decided to embrace the celebration of life with a three-shoe pack. The “Day of the Dead” pack consists of a Cortez, an Air Max 95, and an Air Force 1 Low.

Leading things off his the Nike Cortez “El Altar.” The sneakers come draped in details that incorporate the four natural elements — air, earth, wind, and fire. The sneakers also boast graphics found on traditional altars, also known as ofrendas. The sneakers also come with a confetti print while candle graphics light the afterlife’s path. The black and orange color scheme and reflective print on the Swoosh tie everything together.

The Air Max 95 “La Catrina” boasts a female skeleton figure that represents a happy afterlife. The design boasts human anatomy-inspired design lines with different pieces of the shoe representing muscle fibers. The Air Force 1 Low “La Calaca” arrives with a reflective sugar skull pattern on its mudguard, midfoot, and heel. Another key piece of commemorative altars inspired the sneakers. The white base represents the sugar that the skulls are constructed from while the colored piping adds a nice pop. The pack is eye-catching and unique, offering a worthy trio for any collection.

Take a closer look at the “Day of the Dead” pack in the images below and pick up yours on October 25th via Nike.com, exclusively in the US and Mexico. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more sneakers and footwear coming soon.
