Celebrating With Art! “Picasso. Figures” Opens At The Frist Art Museum Soon

Nashville’s Frist Art Museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary in a big way. 2021 marks a significant milestone for the museum, and they will host a survey on Pablo Picasso to celebrate. The exhibition will focus on the artist’s fascination with the human figure. “Picasso. Figures” will feature over 75 paintings, works on paper, and sculptures.

The artist created the art throughout his career and arrived from an outstanding collection of the Musée national Picasso-Paris. Frist Art Museum chief curator Mark Scala stated: “Viewers will see how, as Picasso continuously deconstructed and then remade the body, he was also recasting the history of figuration as a combination of his own psychological view of humanity and observations about the disruptive nature of life in the 20th century.”

Highlights will include geometric abstractions of the human body and portraits of Picasso’s family, friends, and more. Also included is a look at his work from the early 20th century, which features examples of Picasso’s cubist works. Mr. Scala added, “Continuing through the exhibition, visitors will encounter paintings, sculptures, and works on paper that reflects Picasso’s experiments with a variety of styles, including surrealism, neoclassicism, and expressionism.”

“Picasso. Figures” will open on February 5th and will run through May 2nd, 2021. Head over to the Frist Art Museum’s website to find out more right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art news coming soon.
