Color & Detail! Nina Chanel Abney Reveals ‘Mull It Over’ Mural

Earlier this month, we got a look at a stunning mural from Lakwena. The site-specific work was created in conjunction with Justkids alongside Bentonville, Arkansas-based organization OZ Art. The work was part of an ongoing program entitled ARkanvas, which expands again with a new mural from Chicago-based artist Nina Chanel Abney. The artist unveiled a mural entitled Mull It Over, which aims to spread a message of love. Known for her abstract-meets-figurative work, she created a mural that includes the wording: “STOP – DON’T KILL – LOVE – BLACK.” The artist hopes to raise awareness on the racial crisis.

Abney released a statement that reads: “My starting point for the mural was thinking about the things that have been going on in the last year, and historically, and about how it can’t be unity unless everyone is respected equally.”

Take a closer look at ‘Mull It Over’ in the images and head to OZ Art’s website to find out everything you need to know about the ARkanvas program. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art news coming soon.
