Rihanna, R9

It’s been nearly four years since we got a new project from Rihanna. While ‘Anti’ was one of the best albums of that year, we’ve been longing for something new ever since. To be fair, she has been busy expanding her empire outside of music. However, it looks like 2021 is the year for a new album from RiRi. She is set to return with a new project that is speculatively entitled R9. The project is definitely on the way, and the artist has confirmed as much in several interviews. She told ET Online that “It’s going to be worth it.” Even Pharrell Williams, Shaggy, and Skylar Grey have confirmed a new album as well. While nothing has been confirmed as far as a release date, or even an official album title, we’re all hoping Rihanna returns soon. It’s been far too long!

Travis Scott & Kid Cudi, The Scotts

Now here is something everyone should be excited about. Travis Scott recently spoke with GQ and confirmed that he has been working on a collaborative project with none other than Kid Cudi. The news arrived after the duo released “The Scotts” back in April. Upon the release of the track, fans immediately called for a collaborative effort, and it sounds like the duo has listened. Both artists have been quite coy about a release date, but the word is ‘The Scotts’ will arrive sometime this year. It’s no secret that Travis Scott is influenced by Kid Cudi, and both artists have spent 2020 dropping some infectious new material. Hopefully, this one arrives sooner than later because we are hyped about the possibility!

J. Cole, The Off Season, It’s A Boy & The Fall Off

The North Carolina native decided to shake things up a bit before the new year. Just ahead of 2021, the wordsmith took to Instagram to tease three new albums and his impending retirement. Cole is set to take over 2021 with his highly-anticipated The Fall Off album, though dropping The Off Season and It’s A Boy beforehand. The artist revealed that he had the two other “Fall Off-era” albums before revealing that he’s ready to leave the rap game behind. He wrote, “I still got some goals I gotta check off for’ I scram…” Stay tuned for much more on this coming soon!

The Weeknd, Untitled Album

2020 was a big year for The Weeknd, even if he did get snubbed by the GRAMMYS. His project ‘After Hours’ arrived and immediately became one of our favorite projects of the year. In an interview with tmrw magazine, Able said that the cancellation of his planned tour and everything that happened in 2020 made him refocus and put his energy into a follow-up. He stated: “I have been more inspired and creative during the pandemic than I might normally be while on the road…” The crooner went on to add, “The pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the tensions of the election have mostly created a sense of gratitude for what I have and closeness with the people near me.” While no official word of an ‘After Hours’ follow-up has been announced, it’s something we are looking forward to! Stay tuned!

Drake, Certified Lover Boy

Who isn’t hyped about Drake’s return? The artist has kept fans waiting on his new project since Summer, teasing details along the way. The album, Certified Lover Boy has been on everyone’s radar since the lead single “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk arrived. Drake has been building the project with merch and visual trailers throughout the Summer and Fall. The album will serve as his sixth studio album, a number that is quite sentimental for the 6 God. Judging from the excitement, it seems like we are in for something special. Certified Lover Boy is slated to arrive this month!
