Coming Soon… Here Are Our 10 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2021

2020 was a rough year for everyone, including the film industry. With theaters shuttered, movies were postponed, canceled entirely, or moved to streaming platforms. Well, 2021 is a new year, which brings hope that we can soon return to our seats in front of the big screen. With that being said, today we take a look at our 10 most anticipated movies of 2021.

This year is loaded with some incredible selections, including reboots, new installments, and much more. 2020 may have put a halt to several releases, but 2021 is shaping up to be a big year at the box office, if possible. Movies like Top Gun: Maverick, The Matrix 4, and Spider-Man 3 are sure to be big hits. However, we’re really hyped about Candyman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Uncharted.

Take a closer look at our 10 most anticipated movies of 2021 below and mark your calendars. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more entertainment news coming soon.

Candyman

If you are anything like us, your love of horror films was shaped in part by the original Candyman. Recently it was revealed that Jordan Peele was working on a reboot of the film, and we got excited! Peele has been making waves in the horror genre, and we expect Candyman to be quite thrilling. The main character will be played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. You should be familiar with him from his work on HBO’s Watchmen limited series. This is one reboot we are certainly hyped about seeing. Look for the film to arrive on August 27th, 2021!

Spider-Man 3

Tom Holland is going to have a busy year. Spider-Man 3 is the latest installment in the Spider-Man franchise and one we’re interested in checking out. It seems like things could be aligning for the comic’s Sinister Six villain collective, though there are a lot of unknowns. The end of the Infinity War saga in Marvel’s Endgame leaves things a bit open-ended, though we’re compelled to see which direction Spider-Man 3 takes. The film is slated for release on December 17th, just in time for the 2021 holiday season! Stay tuned!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

After 2016’s reboot, many folks might not be too excited about the return of Ghostbusters. However, this new iteration is helmed by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the original film. It also marks the return of Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts as their characters from the first two installments. If that isn’t reason to be excited, what is? The film will also feature Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and more. While little is known about the plot, the lineup seems promising. Look for Ghostbusters: Afterlife to hit the big screen on March 5th!

Mission Impossible 7

It’s hard to believe that there have been six entries into the Mission Impossible catalog. The seventh is coming, and Tom Cruise returns once again. While there is little word on what we can expect from the film, we know we are bound to get plenty of action. The movie is sure to be a super-spy thriller, and thanks in no small part to Tom Cruise’s dedication to his craft. Word is that Mission Impossible 7 will arrive on November 19th; mark your calendars!

The Matrix 4

Neo will make his return later this year! If you thought The Matrix Revolutions was the end of ‘The One,’ you were severely mistaken. The fourth installment is to be written and directed by Lana Wachowski. However, the film will not include the return of Lawrence Fishburne. Carrie Moss returns, while the case will feature additions like Johnathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra, and Neil Patrick Harris. No word on precisely what the fourth installment will bring to the table, but we are intrigued nonetheless. Look for The Matrix 4 to arrive in theaters on December 22nd.

Black Widow

2020 marked the first year without a significant MCU release in years. Black Widow ended up being pushed back to 2021, and it doesn’t seem like the studio is willing to push it back again. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, and more. The prequel will presumably find Johansson handing over the reigns to Pugh for the next phase of the MCU. The movie is also set to bring Taskmaster, a longtime Avengers villain, into the cinematic universe. However, little else is known about the upcoming film. Black Widow is slated for release on May 7th, so be on the lookout!

Top Gun: Maverick

Folks have been waiting on this one for a while! Maverick is back for another high-octane look into the world of Navy fighter pilots. There are many open doors leading into the film, including how Maverick is still able to fly after the events of the first installment. However, we’re hoping those answers will come in 2021. The movie will also star John Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, and Val Kilmer, who returns as Iceman. Look for Top Gun: Maverick to fly into theaters on July 2nd, 2021.

The Suicide Squad

The first Suicide Squad came out back in 2016 and fell flat. Now, the follow-up, which is helmed by James Gunn, is looking to take things in a different direction. The cast of characters includes some of those from the most exciting corners of the DC universe. The cast will consist of John Cena’s Peacemaker, and the studio is so confident in the film that a TV show spin-off has already been announced. No exact word on what we can expect from the film, but we’re excited about the possibilities. Look for The Suicide Squad to take over the big screen on August 6th.

Uncharted

Tom Holland strikes again! We told you 2021 would be a busy year for the actor, and Uncharted will be his second of the year. The film is based on the best-selling PlayStation-exclusive video game and serves as a prequel to the games. The plot aims to showcase how Nathan Drake came to be. The video games’ formula has been a success, and we’re sure it will translate well onto the big screen. The cast list looks promising, so we’re excited to see what could come of this. Look for Uncharted to swing into the box office on October 8th.

No Time to Die

Bond is back in 2021. No Time To Die was slated to drop in 2020, but, you know, COVID. The film will serve as the fifth and, presumably, the final appearance of Daniel Craig. The film will also feature Ana de Armas, Rami Malek, and Lashana Lynch as the new 007. However, it will also feature the return of Ralph Fiennes as M, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, and Christoph Waltz as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. No Time To Die will arrive on April 2nd, 2021, don’t miss it!
