Every year around this time, we as fans of TV and movies are being treated to a slew of new trailers in a look ahead at San Diego Comic-Con. The annual showcase took place this year from July 18th through the 21st and features masses of hard-core fans, A-list celebrities, and movie executives. The event is a celebration of what film, television, toys, gaming, and comics have to offer.
This year there was a slew of trailers revealed from a variety of sources. Marvel provided a look at their plans for Phase 4 which will include 11 projects: six films and five TV series. Warner Bros. shared footage for their upcoming movie IT: Chapter 2, and HBO shared a few looks as well.
Today we take a look at the best of the best, providing you with a look at the best trailers from San Diego Comic-Con 2019. From HBO’s ‘His Dark Materials,’ to ‘Terminator: Dark Fate,’ a slew of trailers certainly built the hype for what is coming to theaters and television. Dark Materials
Will ‘His Dark Materials’ fill the game that ‘Game of Thrones’ left? Only time will tell, but we are certainly hyped about what’s in store. The series is based on the bestselling novels by Philip Pullman, set in an alternate world while featuring a shape-shifting animal called a Daemon. The series stars James McAvoy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anne-Marie Duff, Clarke Peters, and Ruth Wilson. Look for it this Fall on HBO.
Watchmen
Of course, Watchmen, makes the cut. We’ve been hyped about this one for a while. The show was greenlit nearly two years ago and will finally arrive in October. The HBO show stars Regina King as Angela Abraham, Don Johnson as Chief Judd Crawford, Tim Blake Nelson as Looking Glass, Lous Gossett Jr. as Old Man, Adelaide Clemens as Pirate Jenny, Andrew Howard as Red Scare, Jean Smart as Agent Blake and Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias. Rick and Morty Season 4
If you’re not hyped about the return of Rick and Morty, we can’t be friends. Season four kicks off this November and finds the odd couple again getting back into their shenanigans. The short clip isn’t exactly a trailer, though it does provide a look at Taika Waititi’s cameo in the hit Adult Swim series, where he’s seen voicing an alien intern named Glootie. Look for it to return to Adult Swim this Fall.
IT: Chapter 2
Serving as the final chapter in the horror saga, IT: Chapter 2 arrives later this Summer. The film will include some of the most controversial scenes from Steven King’s novel while aiming to take over the title of being the highest-grossing horror film of all-time. The grown-up Losers Club includes James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, Jan Ransone, and Jessica Chastain, while Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
Terminator: Dark Fate
A new trailer didn’t debut during the panel at Comic-Con, but we’re hyped about this one none-the-less. The film is set to return to the franchise’s roots and see the return of original cast members Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and Edward Furlong as John Connor. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as T-800. The clip will serve as a direct sequel to James Cameron’s iconic 1991 flick Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Cameron returns as producer. Need any more reasons on why this made the list? Look for it in theaters on November 1st, 2019.
