For fans of ‘The Mandalorian,’ today is a day to celebrate. The word came down that season 2 of ‘The Mandalorian’ has been confirmed. The news was announced by show-runner Jon Favreau late last year, and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger recently confirmed the news as well. The word is that all-new episodes of the show are slated to arrive this October exclusively on Disney+. Mr. Iger confirmed the news via an earnings call on Tuesday evening. In addition to announcing ‘The Mandalorian’s’ return, Iger also hinted that potential spin-offs are in the works.
He stated, “the possibility of infusing it with more characters and taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.” This news comes as word that Disney+ already has a Rogue One prequel starring Cassian Andor in the works, as well as a new series about Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. ‘The Mandalorian’ has been a massive success for Disney+ and is one of the reasons the streaming platform has garnered over 28 million subscribers since its launch.
