The wordsmith known as Consequence is back. The wordsmith returns with something new for our listening enjoyment, honoring the late-great Phife Dawg and his 49th birthday. The track, “No Place Like Home,” isn’t a new track, though it’s one they recorded during the sessions for A Tribe Called Quest‘s final album. Consequence spoke about the track recently. He stated: “I always knew I wanted people to hear this record, but it just felt like the timing had to be right.”
Cons added, “This year it feels right. The one thing I know about Phife is that he’s a rapper’s rapper. The best gift I could give him for his birthday this year is to let the world hear the 5 Foot Assassin once again!” The track was produced by Consequence and Mike Cash, with assistance from Fede Vindver and Rich Keller. The fellas do their thing and do it well. Don’t sleep on this one. So, while we patiently await more new music, and hopefully a project of some sort from The Cons, this one will certainly hold us over.
