Known for his black and white sketch work, Joshua Vides is back in the news. The self-taught artist from LA is bringing everything back to its original via black and white stencil. The artist recently partnered with Messenger and Facebook Open Arts, creating Messenger’s first-ever black and white immersive 360-backgrounds. They released two 360 backgrounds on May 21st, one inspired by his new (soon to open) LA-based coffee shop, Matte Black Coffee.
The second background, The Room, features a fun 360-degree space filled with Joshua’s pieces. The Room also expands the more you look, serving as a representation of exploration and opportunity. Joshua is one of six artists featured with Messenger and Facebook Open Arts. The project highlights artists from underrepresented communities and celebrates creativity, diversity, and vibrancy in the arts. The program finds artists from various backgrounds and perspectives, inviting new ways of thinking about ourselves and our communities.
Check out the images below and head over to Facebook Open Arts to find out more. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the art department.
