Creative Curations | Josh Sperling Unveils His “Nevertheless” Exhibition

New York-based artist, Josh Sperling is gearing up for a new exhibition. The artist will soon present new sculptural paintings at Sorry We’re Closed in Brussels, Belgium. The new exhibit comes as an exhibition entitled “Nevertheless”. The range finds Sperling showing off a range of his color, vivid, and abstract designs, which he calls “composites.”

The gallery spoke about the artist’s work in a statement. “Overall Sperling’s work offers a dynamic interplay between a series of visual dichotomies, celebrating tensions between mechanical systems and organic shapes or between two-dimensional and three-dimensional renderings,” said the gallery. They went on to add “His work moreover serves as a playful and rejuvenating response to the legacy of certain predecessors in the tradition of a shaped canvas, namely that of Frank Stella and Ellsworth Kelly.”

To develop his three-dimensional works, the artist first selects colors that seemingly don’t match. He then creates harmony between the tones through form and configuration. The pieces are intriguing and eye-catching, blending shapes and color into unique details and compelling images.
