Custom Creations! Prince’s Shoe Collection To Be Displayed At Paisley Park

Regarded for his pioneering sound and revolutionary music, Prince’s legacy is undeniable. However, his style pushed boundaries and helped propel him to stardom, along with his unapologetic style. The musician’s former studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Paisley Park, will celebrate that style soon.

The museum will soon open a new exhibition showcasing his collection of one-of-a-kind shoes. Entitled The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes, the exhibition will include more than 300 pairs of Prince’s shoes. The collection includes several custom-designed shoes, which were crafted for on-stage performances and music videos.

Elsewhere the exhibition features shoes created in partnership with fashion designers, including Donatella Versace and many more. Standouts include Prince’s blue, hand-painted boots from the “Raspberry Beret” music video, a pair of blue/green heels with gold floral detailing that celebrate his “Purple Rain” performance at the 1985 American Music Awards.

Other notable shoes include black shoes with gold stripes and “Love Symbol #2” zippers. Paisley Park, Managing Director, and The Beautiful Collection Curator Mitch Maguire spoke about the exhibition. Mr. Maguire stated: “Prince continuously pushed the boundaries of fashion, music, and culture in general.” He added, “His expansive, incredible shoe collection is just one example of his artistic expression, personality, and lasting impact on fashion. When guests visit this exhibition, they will be immersed in the drama, taste, and complexity of Prince while also revealing some of the collaborators who worked so closely to bring his vision to life.”

The exhibition will also feature video clips of the late performer and his shoes in action and various recordings from designers. The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes will open on July 9th and run until September 6th.

Take a look at a few select shoes from the exhibition and head over to Paisley Park’s website to pick up tickets. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the intersection of music and lifestyle.
