Danny Brown – Shine Ft. Blood Orange

This past Friday marked the official return of Danny Brown. It had been a while since the wordsmith had released any new music, but that changed in a big way. Mr. Brown released his new album uknowhatimsayin¿, which certainly got our attention this weekend. Today we take a closer look at one of the many standouts from the album. This one is called “Shine” and finds Danny linking up with Blood Orange for something addictive and smooth.

The track has dark undertones thanks to these ominous strings and some catching synths. The melodic elements come counterbalanced with these reverberating drums that provide a nice home for both artists to showcase their talents. Danny brings his a-game lyrically, while Blood Orange holds down the chorus with his unique talents. The result is something sleek and groovy, something we can’t seem to get enough. Danny Brown raps, “But who can you turn to when things go wrong? Ayy, it’s the plot all along. Push you down the wrong path; the statistics have shown. Everything that I known turned out to be lies. Found out when I was grown so I shared that light. On these dark undertones, had a nigga head gone. Why they buy the diamonds and the car with shiny chrome.”

The fellas showcase their respective talents well and in turn, provide a solid new single for our listening enjoyment. Check out the new track, “Shine” in the stream below, and be sure to check out the rest of Danny’s new album uknowhatimsayin¿. Keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new music coming very soon.
