Easy Breezy! The Yamaha TRITOWN PEV

We’ve all seen the piles of dead electric rideshare scooters lining the sidewalks of every mediocre city in America. Most of us have downloaded the app and hopped on one. Atleast to out a couple of blocks around town before we logged off and left it for the next guy. Well, thanks to an upcoming release from Yamaha, those rideshare nightmares are for the birds.

Yamaha will release the TRITOWN, a small three-wheeled personal electric vehicle. Designed to cover the last mile to the rider’s destination in greater comfort. The TRITOWN will turn heads the entire trip. The PEV will utilize Yamaha’s proprietary Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) * technology. LMW was developed in a quest for “bikes that lean but don’t fall.” The technology is Yamaha’s designation for vehicles with three or more wheels that lean like a motorcycle through turns. The TRITOWN has dual front wheels and is controlled by the rider’s balance. This three-wheel design allows for both of the rider’s feet to remain on the vehicle during stops and takeoffs.

The team behind the TRITOWN designed the frame as well as every part composing the body to be organic-like form. This gives the PEV a new “innovative emotional aesthetic.” While curved shaped parts and a frame with a twisting structure add to the aesthetic. After repeated checks and testing, Yamaha made the TRITOWN’s chassis not only more compact and lighter but also stronger. Using the same approach with the battery and other components as well. Yamaha was able to bring them together into a compact and stylish package.

A 380 Wh battery powers a 500-watt motor mounted in the rear rub to a top speed of about 15 MPH. The TRITOWN weighs in at 88 pounds and is just over three feet long, making it light and compact while having a substantial structure and lighting.

The project looks to be ready for production, and word on the street is that it will be available for purchase within the year. For more details and specs, visit Yamaha right now.
