Elton John – ‘The Lockdown Sessions’

The one and only, Elton John, is back. The legendary artist released his latest album, ‘The Lockdown Sessions,’ for our listening enjoyment. The new project comes equipped with sixteen new tracks recorded remotely over the past 18 months. The project is loaded with a slew of new material, including a bevy of collaborative songs with more than 20 artists. Elton puts together a stunning display of his talents, pairing up with the likes of Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, 6lack, Gorillaz, Charlie Puth, and more.

Speaking about the project recently on Instagram, Sir Elton stated: “The last thing I expected to do during lockdown was make an album.” The caption goes on to add, “But, as the pandemic went on, one‐off projects kept cropping up, and I’ve ended with a selection of really interesting and diverse stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory.” Mr. John went continued: “And I realized there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.”

This is certainly something unique and different and worth a spin. Check out the new project, ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ in the stream below, and look for more from Elton John coming soon. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for all the best in new music.
