Well, it’s official, Facebook has entered the dating service game. Facebook Dating has arrived in the United States after its initial introduction in other countries last year. The platform allows Facebook users ages 18 and up to use its new dating service features. The service lives within the Facebook app, though users must create a separate profile for it. The only information carried over is your name and age.
The platform will allow users to match with each other based on location, preferences, and much more. There are even presets to match with people attending the same Facebook event or are part of the same Facebook group. Facebook is big on privacy within the app, and your Facebook friends with won’t show up as a potential match by default.
However, that option can be turned on. People can be blocked from seeing your Dating profile as well, even if you still want the user to have access to your Facebook and Instagram accounts. Instagram will be integrated into Dating, allowing users to showcase their posts on the dating profile. Finally, in a move to protect users during first-time encounters, Facebook will allow users to open Messenger from platform and tell a friend the name of the person they are going out with. This also allows the user to share the time and place you both intend on meeting up.
