Flying Into The Future! Boom Supersonic XB-1 Aircraft

After years of development, Boom Supersonic is back and looking to take to the friendly skies with the XB-1. The company is getting ready to launch the new aircraft in 2021. The XB-1 is a 1:3 scale prototype of the company’s future aircraft, the Overture. The demonstrator is just a tease of what is ahead, while the Overture is slated to be a supersonic commercial airliner.

The plane was built for sustainability, boasting high-efficiency intakes and three J85-15 engines from General Electric. The 71-foot craft can reach a max speed of Mach 2.2. This means that a flight from New York to London would only take you about three and a half hours. We’re here for quick travel, especially in terms of flying. Who really wants to cramped up on a plane for more than four to five hours anyway?

The XB-1 is slated to take flight next year, though no exact date has been specified. Take a look at the future of flight in the images and find out more from Boom Supersonic right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more aircraft and vehicles of all sorts.
