For The Arts! Queens Museum Offers $10,000 USD Artist Budget

The Queens Museum in New York City has launched an open call for its upcoming residency program. The program, titled “Year of Uncertainty,” aims to create new ways to connect the museum with the community. Artists in the “Year of Uncertainty” program will develop bodies of work that focus on several themes such as “Care,” “Repair,” “Play,” “Justice,” and “The Future.”

The museum will offer a $10,000 USD budget to create work presented in exhibitions or public-facing projects. The museum will also provide rent-free studios ranging from 300 to 550 square feet and on-site production resources for a span of 18 months.

The museum released a statement regarding the initiative. The statement reads: “Residents accepted into this program will be provided with free studio space, a stipend to make and support the production of work and will engage with the Queens Museum’s programmatic initiatives to research and produce virtual or in-person programs across strands of the Museum’s work including Education, Interpretation, Public Programs, Community Engagement, Exhibitions, Books and Publications, Archives and Collections, Communications, Digital Content, and Visitor Services.”
