There is another new NFT platform launching this month. Dubbed LGND, the artist-first platform will open with a colorful work of art by James Jean. This serves as the platform’s inaugural drop, a stunningly bright piece entitled The Editor | Day. The NFT will be released on May 16th.
LGND aims to facilitate a digital transition of mainstream art, partnering with artists such as Joshua Davis/PrayStation, Tristan Eaton, and more. The platform takes direction from an artist council of a rotating collective. Jean’s NFT references a painting of Saint Lucy by Francesco del Cossa from the 15th century. The piece represents narratives branching from the subject’s imagination, while cranes are seen throughout.
James Jean will donate 25 percent of artist proceeds to Endaoment.org, which benefits the Stand With Asians Community Fund.
