The brand with the three stripes is back in the news. Today we get an official look at the new CG ZX 2K Phormar I silhouette. Designed in collaboration with Craig Green, the sneaker first emerged back in March, which is set to release alongside the CG ZX 2K Phormar II.
Designed to celebrate the designer’s functional approach, each silhouette was constructed using as few individual pieces as possible. The CG ZX 2K Phormar I’s upper is crafted from a single piece of translucent nylon. The sneaker’s structure comes from high-density white cording, which is visible through the upper. The cording can be seen at the heel and on top of the tongue, while 3-Stripe branding is seen through the translucent outer shell.
The CG ZX 2K Phormar II features an opaque aesthetic with either a matte woven nylon or a PU coated warp knit. The sneaker also includes a metal cord stopper and a metallic trefoil badge. The sneaker arrives in three colorways, including a beige nylon construction and black or white iterations.
Green spoke about the design, stating: “I’ve always been interested in design for function and how this can shape an aesthetic. Working closely with Adidas, we were able to create a new way of constructing the upper of a shoe, using a single piece of fabric and a series of cords. These work together to create a structure that’s easily foldable yet also strong.”
