No stranger to style, Jaden Smith is back in the news feed. The artist, designer, actor, and more returns, pairing up with New Balance for his first signature silhouette, the Vision Racer. The sneaker is fashionable, futuristic, and fresh, to say the least. The sneaker pulls elements from Jaden’s favorite New Balances, including the 1700 and X-Racer. The Vision Racer brings together heritage NB stylings and futuristic construction, creating a unique look with a dramatic flair.
The sneakers arrive in a “Wavy Baby Blue” colorway while boasting exaggerated proportions along the midsole. Here we find three rectangular blocks that secure the mesh-and-suede upper. The kicks also feature branding under the translucent outsole, rocking a pink ((VISION)) embellishment that uses the font from Smith’s SYRE and ERYS albums. There are also small black ((VISION)) hits that wrap around the upper while the insole features Smith’s signature and the traditional N, which can be seen on the quarter panel.
The sneaker focuses on sustainability, as well. The upper features a variety of recycled styles. The textiles and synthetic leathers are made of recycled polyesters. The insoles combine castor bean oil to recycled foam and rubber plus virgin polyurethane.
