With a new album slated to drop sometime this year, we can expect to hear much more Gallant. The singer/songwriter is gearing up to release his forthcoming album, Neptune, and today he is back with his second single of the year. This one is called “Relapse.” The track is a follow-up to his first single, “Comeback,” and as usual, Gallant delivers something impressive.
The crooner spoke about the track and its inspiration. He stated: “‘Relapse.’ means a lot to me— it was the first song I wrote for ‘Neptune’ after I could sense things weren’t working out between me and my former label.” The artist went further to add, “I just wanted to make something that could transport me back to the way things used to be; in all my relationships— including the one with the world around me and my relationship with myself.” He continued, saying, “I wanted to be able to escape to something that felt like the middle of summer break when school’s out, and you don’t have to keep track of the days anymore.”
Gallant finished off his comments with, “Something you can keep going back to that seems like it was made for you and only you. Like the safety of that one song, you found buried deep in the tracklist of that new album you just got. Something that won’t ever leave you and is finally fully yours.” The single “Relapse.” is driven by these silky smooth melodies and some clean drum sections. The combination provides a solid home for Gallant to excel, and as usual, he doesn’t’ disappoint.
