Game Time | MTN DEW Signs Zion Williamson

The 2019-2020 NBA Season is off and running. It’s that time of the year once again, and we as basketball fans are hyped! As the season gets started, the word comes down that Mountain Dew has signed Zion Williamson, teaming up for a 5-year deal. Zion is the latest addition to the Mountain Dew roster, which is brimming with talent. The NBA Rookie will represent the brand in a variety of ways, including appearances and more. Zion joins the likes of Joel Embiid, Myles Turner, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Cam Reddish as some of the league’s top young guns.

The mural showcases Zion’s rise from Spartanburg Day School to the NBA and his love of comic books. Zion and DEW worked with artist Ceaux Young to paint a mural on a set of refurbished basketball courts in Spartanburg, SC. The mural was designed in a comic book style and features a Snapchat code. This allows fans can unlock unique augmented reality content using the Snapchat app.

Zion Williamson x Mountain Dew!

Zion stated: “Playing high school basketball at Spartanburg Day School is what helped put me on the map – so it’s been fun to team up with my new partner Mountain Dew and Ceaux Young to make this mural happen”. “I’ve always been a huge comic book fan – it’s so cool to see how Ceaux brought these scenes to life on the courts in Spartanburg”.

Mountain Dew and Snapchat have linked up too, marking the first time a brand has ever unlocked an exclusive augmented reality experience directly from a marker on an athlete’s jersey. This is undoubtedly a big move for Mountain Dew, as well as the rookie phenom, Zion Williamson. Check out the mural in the images below and keep it locked for much more from Mountain Dew during the 2019-2020 NBA season. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more sports, sports news, and more coming soon.
