Going Electric! Jeep Wrangler Magneto Concept EV

The good folks over at Jeep are looking to get into the world of EVs. It’s only a matter of time. Today the iconic automaker is back in the news with a look at something for the future, the  Jeep Wrangler Magneto Concept EV. This stunning new machine is based on the two-door 2020 Wrangler Rubicon. Power comes from a custom axial flux electric motor which is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The goal was to recreate the driving experience of the 3.6L V6 without the emissions.

Four battery packs are placed throughout for weight distribution, boasting a combined power of 70 kW/h. They are joined by two 12-volt batteries that supply power to the other systems. The Magneto concept is outfitted with a high-voltage heater, while all of the electrical components sit in waterproof enclosures. The Wrangler has also been equipped with a JPP 2-inch lift kit, 17-inch Lights Out black metallic wheels and 35-inch mud-terrain tires.
