She’s back! Today H.E.R. makes her return to the interwebs, doing so with a brand new single for our listening enjoyment. This time around, the songstress has unleashed a new single entitled “Fight For You.” The track comes from the film Judas And The Black Messiah, which garnered H.E.R. a Golden Globe nomination. The new single is powerful and contagious, to say the least.
The songstress recently opened up about the single with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. She stated: “It was pretty fast. After we watched the movie in the studio together, then we just started to talk.” She spoke about the creation of the track as well. She went on to add, “And that’s honestly why I love working with D’Mile [Dernst Emile II] and Tiara [Thomas] because I can talk to them. I think the biggest thing was listening to some of our favorite, some of my favorites; Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Sly, and the Family Stone. I was like, ‘I really want to capture the right percussion sounds and get the bass line.’ We started with the bass line. I picked up the bass, and I was fiddling a little bit. And then… D’Mile came, picked up the bass, and then we landed on something. And it was really about the message, you know.”
The track is nothing short of impressive and one we wouldn’t suggest sleeping on. Take a few minutes from your hectic Friday and check out the new single, “Fight For You,” in the stream below. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new music coming very soon.
