You might not be familiar with the Higher Brothers, but that will change very soon. The four-man group released their international debut project, Five Stars back in February, and now they’re back. The album was their first formal introduction to the world, but they return strong. This time the Higher Brothers link up with the west coast legend Snoop Dogg for a contagious new single, “Friends & Foes.”
The single is the groups first since the release of Five Stars, and they don’t disappoint. The fellas get one hell of an instrumental to excel upon, and they do precisely that. Pushed by these bouncy, rattling, head-nod inducing drums which are paired with a fitting, west coast sounding melody; the track is a solid option for the artists to show out upon. Snoop shows off his legendary wordplay and delivery on the track, while the Higher Brothers reciprocate with their smooth approach. The track finds placement on Netflix’ upcoming series, Wu-Assassins, and it fits quite nicely. This isn’t the one to sleep one, and certainly a good introduction to the Higher Brothers in case you’re unfamiliar.
