Home on The Big Island | The Makani Eka House

While views in Hawaii are seemingly had at every turn, this beautiful example of modern architecture might boast some of the best. The Makani Eka House overlooks the pacific on the coast of the Big Island. Hawaii is host to seemingly endless views of breath-taking scenery. No matter what island you find yourself on, expect an array of eye candy. This beautiful structure takes full advantage of its location, offering a modern dose of luxury and some unrivaled views. The design is an exceptional celebration of modern Hawaiian architecture.

Influenced and shaped by local architect Vladimir Ossipoff, the structure is remarkable. The architect’s mid-century influences are seen throughout the home’s materials and connection with the natural surroundings. The interior boasts brilliant attention to detail and a minimal aesthetic. The living spaces are spacious and afford ample views through the glazing. The private areas are secluded, though still modern and minimal to keep things clean throughout.

The ocean and the lush surrounding landscapes are on display, while the interior’s expansive glazing and oversized eaves expand the living spaces. This also provides spaces for outdoor terraces, further strengthening the dwellings bond with the surroundings. The home is clean and striking, minimal, and bold, all at the same time.
