Icons of the Road! The Last Ford GT40 Ever Made

When it comes to iconic American sports cars, the Corvette may reign supreme, but there is nothing quite like the Ford GT40. The Ford GT40’s last of four consecutive wins at Le Mans came in 1969, which also served as the last year the ride was produced. Today we get a look at the last Ford GT40 ever made.

The car, chassis number P/1085, was the last GT40 to roll off the assembly line. The vehicle was delivered to Sir Malcolm Gutherie in the UK as a rolling chassis. The car was then stored and left untouched until a restoration in the late 2000s to 1968 JWA “Gulf Spec.” The P/1085 currently features a period-correct 302 cubic-inch V8 wearing Gurney-Weslake cylinder heads.

Like the Le Mans-winning race cars, the ride is host to 10 and 14-inch wheels with disc brakes and four-pot calipers. The last vehicle was one of the most successful racing cars ever, and it’s also eligible for historic racing.
