Immersed In Art | Studio Drift Opens The “Immersed in Light” Exhibition

The creative minds at Studio Drift are bringing their artistic creations to Charlotte, North Carolina. The creative collective has paired with the Mint Museum for an upcoming exhibition called Immersed in Light”. The showcase is a continuation of Drift artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta’s exploration into the relationship between nature and human made tech. The exhibition includes a new sculpture named “Coded Coincidence,” which will be on view for the first time.

The sculpture is inspired by the natural “springsnow” phenomenon which takes place in their hometown of Amsterdam. The piece will be developed over the course of the exhibition. This will allow the public to experience Studio Drift’s creative process from idea to development. The final experience will have visitors walk through a large acrylic chamber while over 30 steerable fans blow wind and seeds around them. The experience mimics the elm seeds that blow around Amsterdam’s air.

Other works include the “Fragile Future 3” installation, which is made from dandelion seeds illuminated by LED lights. There is also an installation made of 20 large glass “wings. This unique piece is called “Amplitude”. The exhibition certainly looks unique, and you can take a first look. Take a few minutes to peruse the gallery below and take a closer look at “Immersed in Light”. The show will be on display from September 20, 2019, to April 26, 2020; don’t miss out.
