Inside The Art | Mark Whalen’s “Gentle Reminders” Exhibition in Hong Kong

The incredibly talented Mark Whalen is back. The artist is currently displaying some of his works of art at Over The Influence’s Hong Kong gallery. The exhibition is titled “Gentle Reminders,” which offer a range of new colorful sculptural pieces. The new works expand on the artist’s exploration of human shapes, color, and material. The showcase is full of whimsical narratives on life. These include his signature stacks of heads, body parts, and everyday objects.

The exhibit also contains handwritten post-it notes pasted all over the white-walled space. The gallery released a statement regarding the exhibitions. It reads: “A peek into Whalen’s sculptural construction confronts the viewer with the proximity of light humor and meticulous planning. Though the final results may be lighthearted and frivolous, the process is anything but – careful calculations and structure are needed to create the illusion of buoyancy in something made of such heavy materials.” There are a total of 10 sculptural works and a series of wall-hung reliefs.

Take a closer look at these “Gentle Reminders” in the gallery below and visit Over The Influence’s website for more information. Keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art and art news coming very soon.
