Into The Future | Burger King Unveils A Touchless Restaurant Order System

Though we are still waiting on flying cars and hoverboards, the future is here. While the “new normal” isn’t quite what we had in mind, technology has certainly stepped up to keep us safe and distanced in these interesting times. The good folks over at Burger King are looking to usher in the future of fast food ordering. The company has revealed plans for an innovative new restaurant design that includes a “touchless” order system.

Dubbed the “Restaurant of Tomorrow,” the design features three lanes for “Pick Up, “Park & Order” and “Drive-Thru.” One lane is dedicated to food delivery drivers, keeping things separate and easily distinguished. The is slated to operate with a solar charging system, and seating arrangements will be placed on the second floor for dine-in.

Drive-thru customers will be given their orders via a conveyor belt at a pickup location in the parking lot. Curbside pickup customers will park their vehicles under a solar power canopy, placing their orders through QR codes. Customers ordering takeout without vehicles will be served through a walkup window.

The new Burger King stores are set to launch in Miami and in Latin America sometime in 2021. Check out the short video below for a better idea of what to expect. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the intersection of tech and food!
